Kota | At the launch of the ‘Cow Conservation and Grazing Tradition’ event in Khedli village, Kota, Rajasthan Education Minister Madan Dilawar made a controversial statement linking children’s intelligence and behavior to cow and buffalo milk. He claimed that calves drinking cow’s milk become intelligent and active, while those consuming buffalo milk tend to be lazy and “mentally sluggish.” According to him, parents who want their children to be energetic, lively, and clever should feed them cow’s milk, whereas buffalo milk will make them lethargic.

Dilawar illustrated his point with an example, saying a cow’s calf quickly recognizes its mother and starts playing energetically after feeding. In contrast, a buffalo calf struggles to identify its mother and wanders among several buffaloes. He suggested that if five to seven cows and buffaloes with newborns are selected, and their calves are left to find their mothers, the difference becomes apparent: the cow’s calf goes straight to its mother, while the buffalo calf remains confused. The minister also highlighted traditional naming differences between cow and buffalo young: a cow’s young is called a calf, then kheda, naadkiya, and eventually bull, while a buffalo’s young is always called “pada,” regardless of age. He emphasized that intelligence and progress are linked to cow’s milk consumption. While Dilawar claimed his comments aimed to emphasize children’s mental and physical development, the remarks have stirred debate across social media and political circles, with many questioning the scientific validity of his statements.
