Barmer | A horrific road accident took place in Barmer’s Baytu police station area on Wednesday morning on National Highway-25, where a truck hit a school bus and dragged it nearly 50 feet.
The bus, belonging to Saraswati Vidya Mandir School, was carrying 36 children, out of which one child died and more than 20 were injured. According to police, the accident occurred around 8 AM while the bus was heading to school. The impact was so severe that several children got trapped under the seats and had to be rescued using a JCB machine. The injured were first taken to Baytu hospital, and nine critically injured children were referred to Balotra. One of them, a 14-year-old boy, Virdharam, died while being taken to Jodhpur hospital. At present, eight seriously injured children are undergoing treatment at Nahata Hospital in Balotra, with multiple fractures and head injuries reported. Police have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
