Was it just a violation of prison rules... or is there a much bigger mystery hidden behind the high walls of Ajmer Central Jail?
Two women inmates were allegedly taken out of the Women's Correctional Home at Ajmer Central Jail without any entry in the official register. Hours later, they returned to the jail. But by then, the matter had already reached the Rajasthan Jail Headquarters.
The incident took place at the Women's Correctional Home inside Ajmer Central Jail, where the charge of Jailer is currently being handled by Deputy Jailer Divya Chaudhary.
According to allegations, Deputy Jailer Divya Chaudhary, accompanied by a woman guard, took two women inmates outside the jail premises without recording their names or the reason for their movement in the mandatory register.
A woman sentry on duty reportedly objected and asked that the movement be entered in the register as required under prison rules. However, according to the allegations, the request was ignored.
The sentry immediately informed Jail Superintendent R. Ananteswaran, who rushed to the women's jail and ordered an emergency headcount.
The headcount revealed a shocking discrepancy.
The official record showed 108 women inmates, but only 106 were present inside the jail.
The missing count triggered panic within the prison administration, and the matter was immediately reported to the Rajasthan Jail Headquarters in Jaipur.
A short while later, the two women inmates were brought back to the jail.
However, several questions remain unanswered.
Why were the inmates taken outside?
Why was there no official register entry?
If everything was done according to procedure, why were prison rules allegedly ignored?
Officials have now launched an investigation, and further action will depend on the findings.
For now, authorities are treating the matter as a serious issue involving prison procedures and security.
The investigation is underway, and only its findings will determine whether this was merely a procedural lapse or a more serious violation of jail rules.
