History:-
The city of Udaipur was established by Rana Uday Singh II of the Sisodia dynasty in 1558. The city of Udaipur was also the capital of Mewar. It is also called the city of lakes. The first Rana of this city was Uday Singh (1540-1572). After this Maharana Pratap Singh (1572-1597) took over the throne of Mewar. After that Rana Amar Singh (1597-1620), Rana Karan Singh II (1620-1628), Rana Jagat Singh (1628-1652), Rana Raj Singh (1652-1680), Rana Jai Singh (1680-1698), Rana Amar Singh II (1698-1710), Rana Sangram Singh II (1710-1734), Rana Jagat Singh (1734-1751), Rana Pratap Singh II (1751-1754), Rana Raj Singh (1754-1762), Rana Ari Singh (1762-1772), Rana Hamir Singh (1772-1778), Rana Bhim Singh (1778-1828), Rana Jawan Singh (1828-1838), Rana Sardar Singh (1838-1842), Rana Swarup Singh (1842-1861), Rana Shambhu Singh (1861-1874) Rana Sajjan Singh (1874-1884), Rana Fateh Singh (1884-1930) and Rana Bhupal Singh (1930-1947) ruled Udaipur. In 1947, Rajasthan became a part of democracy and the tradition of monarchy was abolished. After this, Maharana Bhupal Singh remained the Maharana of the former royal family till 1955. And he also constructed the huge pond Bhupal Sagar. After this, from 1955 to 1984, Maharana Bhagwat Singh remained the Maharana of the former royal family and after him his adopted son Mahendra Singh was made Maharana. Mahendra Singh remained the Maharana of Mewar from 1984 to 2024 and after his death in 2024, his son Vishvraj Singh was elected Maharana of Mewar. The Municipal Council was established in Udaipur on 13 October 1959. Earlier, Udaipur Municipal Board was established in December 1922 before independence. Udaipur Municipal Corporation was formed on 29 November 1994 and again became a Municipal Corporation with the selection of the board of public representatives.
