Report by Dashrath Singh from Nimbahera. Not one... not two... a case of killing of five national birds has come to light in Nimbahera of Chittorgarh. Last night, hunters killed the national bird peacocks near Biloda and Arned villages of Dungla. The accused killed five peacocks by firing a gun. During this, the villagers who reached the spot after hearing the sound of bullets also tried to catch them. But the accused attacked the villagers with a knife. Due to this, three villagers were injured. The villagers caught one accused and handed him over to the police. While the other one absconded. On receiving the information, the police reached the spot at night itself. Both the accused are said to be father and son. Dungla police station officer Ghevarchand said that the accused had a bag and a gun. When the bag was checked, dead peacocks were found in it. The villagers also snatched their gun. The three injured villagers have been admitted to Dungla Hospital. Police have arrested Ilyas, a resident of Pithalwadi village of Chotisadri police station area from the spot. While the second absconding accused is Kalu alias Israel. Villagers have expressed anger over the incident. Villagers gathered and demanded strict and immediate action in the matter from Sub-Divisional Officer Dungla and submitted a memorandum to the Sub-Divisional Officer.
