Along with implementing the Uniform Civil Code, Uttarakhand became the first state to do so after independence. The Government of Uttarakhand has enacted the Uniform Civil Code Act with the aim of giving equal rights to all citizens.

On 7 February 2024, the Assembly passed a bill related to it. On March 12, it received approval from the President. Then on March 14, the government decided to make its rules first by implementing the Uniform Civil Code. The manual was prepared after the exercise that lasted for almost a year. After this, special training was given to personnel to take it off on the ground. According to the Code's proceeds, an online portal has also been made to register various subjects.
