A shocking case of corruption has emerged from Rajsamand. The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested Dr. Pankaj Jain, a Junior Specialist (Surgery) posted at RK District Hospital, while allegedly accepting a bribe.
According to officials, the doctor demanded ₹2,000 to perform surgery on a young child who had a lump near the eye. The amount was later negotiated and settled at ₹1,800.
The complainant reported the matter to the ACB, which conducted a verification of the complaint. During the verification process, the accused doctor allegedly accepted an advance payment of ₹500. Later, as he was accepting the remaining ₹1,300, an ACB team led by Additional SP Himmat Singh Charan caught him red-handed. The bribe money was recovered from the spot.
Think about it—if hospitals, where poor and needy patients go hoping for treatment, become places where bribes are demanded, where can ordinary citizens turn for help?
The ACB has initiated further legal proceedings in the case. Government hospitals are meant to provide public service, not become centers of illegal bargaining. If any government employee or official demands a bribe in exchange for medical treatment or any public service, every citizen has the right to raise their voice. Reporting corruption is one of the strongest ways to combat such practices and ensure accountability.
